Police find spice, shrooms during traffic stop

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police arrested a Fort Wayne man after finding drugs, including shrooms and spice, and a stolen gun in a car during a traffic stop.

According to court documents, shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday, March 28, police conducted a traffic stop at Washington Center Road and Coliseum Boulevard.

Police saw a half burnt marijuana joint in the door panel in plain view when they approached the car.

Officers asked the driver, Patrick M. Ormsby, 26, to get out of the car. When they patted him down, officers found pills in Orsmby’s pocket.

Police then searched the car and found 10 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, or shrooms, in the center console, along with more than seven grams of synthetic marijuana, or spice, inside the car’s glove box.

Officers also found a loaded Glock in the car. Police later determined that the gun had been reported stolen.

Ormsby is facing the following charges:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, a class B felony
  • Possession Schedule I, II, III, or IV Controlled Substance, a class D felony
  • Possession Schedule I, II, III, or IV Controlled Substance, a class D felony
  • Possession Synthetic Drug/Synthetic Drug Lookalike Substance, a class A misdemeanor

As of Thursday morning, Ormsby was listed in the Allen County Jail.
