TELL CITY, Ind. (WANE) – Police arrested a southern Indiana man after seeing pictures posted on Facebook that indicated he was making and distributing untaxed liquor.

According to Indiana State Excise Police, officers served a search warrant at the home of Jeremy D. Thompson, 39, of Tell City, Indiana on Thursday. Police found a distilling apparatus, along with containers containing liquor that Thompson said was untaxed liquor that he had made. Police also found a hydrometer and other devices used to produce the alcohol.

Excise officers said they started their investigation in February after they received a tip about a Facebook post that contained a distilling apparatus. Officers found additional photos and posts that showed Thompson was making liquor at his home.

Thompson was preliminary charged with:

  • Possession of Unlicensed Equipment for the Production of Alcoholic Beverages, a class C misdemeanor
  • Sale without a Permit, a class B misdemeanor
  • Unauthorized Dealings, a class B misdemeanor
  • Sale of Untaxed Alcoholic Beverages (two charges, both misdemeanors)
