FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The funeral plans for a 17-year-old student who was killed by a drunk driver early Saturday morning have been announced.

Haley Nellum, 17, was killed after a man speeding away from a shooting at Fort Wayne bar ran a red light and crashed into her car. Jeremy D. Washington, 35, is now facing eight charges, including reckless homicide and causing death while operating a motor vehicle.

Nellum was a guard on the varsity girl’s basketball team at Bishop Dwenger High School. Nellum’s mother told NewsChannel 15 on Sunday that her daughter had only had her license for eight days and was coming home from a friend’s house when she was killed.

According to Dwenger’s principal, Nellum’s funeral will be on Monday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles. The viewing will be on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 8:30 p.m. at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home on Maplecrest Road.

Bishop Dwenger High School will also be opening the school on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. Campus Ministry will be at the school on those days for anyone who is seeking counseling. The following release was sent out about the services available at high school:
