Homestead grad injured in swimming accident returns to school

Another Round of Rain Wednesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Issac Griffith, a former Homestead football standout and current Indiana University receiver who was hurt in a swimming accident, is returning to school this week, according to his father’s Twitter account.

Griffith was caught in a rip tide when he and three friends were swimming at Siesta Beach. Friends had to rescue Griffith when he was swept past the buoys.

On Saturday, Griffith’s father Shannon, the head football coach at Manchester University, tweeted:

Ike is back at #iufb with his #HoosierFamily what a joy it was to see him smile knowing he is back Home!! #Grateful

Kim and I are so very grateful for all those who kept our son Isaac in their thoughts and prayers he was ready to return to #IU today to be with his football family. The #HoosierNation has been awesome as well as many across the country. We are looking forward to Isaac to continue to improve and get back to doing what he loves to do playing football. Thanks again from the #GriffithFamily and #GodBless

Griffith was released from a Florida hospital last week and returned to Fort Wayne before heading back to IU.
