Ceremony to honor Vietnam veterans Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Riverview Cemetery is hosting a Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Sunday afternoon to honor and recognize Vietnam veterans.

On March 30, 2009, Congress proclaimed March 30 of each year to be national Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.  On March 3, 2014, the Indiana General Assembly passed a resolution making March 30 Vietnam Veterans Day throughout the state of Indiana.

The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. and will feature guests from the veteran community including Ralph A. Garcia, Founder of Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 698, Indiana Representative Matt Lehman, supporter of the HCR, Indiana Representative Rebecca Kubacki, sponsor of House Resolution and other community leaders and supporters.

“We are so honored to have the first ceremony here at the Veteran’s Section of Riverview Cemetery at the site of our new M41 Tank,” Riverview President and D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home Co-Owner, Dave McComb, said.

Riverview Cemetery is located at 11425 Carroll Road in Fort Wayne.
