Man hit, killed by two cars ID’d

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The man who died after being hit by two vehicles at the intersection of Lake Avenue and N. Coliseum Boulevard on Saturday night has been identified.

The Allen County Coroner said Jamie Allen Frederick, 58, of Fort Wayne, died from blunt force trauma. His death was ruled an accident.

Officers were called to the scene at 10:48 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, Frederick was unconscious and lying in the middle of the road.

Investigators said Frederick was walking east trying to cross Coliseum just south of Lake Avenue, when he walked into the path of a car driving southbound on Coliseum.

Witnesses said he tried to get up after being hit, but was hit by a second vehicle driving southbound on Coliseum.

Emergency responders tried to administer CPR at the scene, but Frederick was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of both cars were there when police arrived.

Police haven’t determined if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.

A witness told NewsChannel 15 that the man was walking with a woman, but the woman was not hit. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
