INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer was arrested on multiple felony charges Thursday, stemming from an investigation into evidence mishandling that began more than one year ago.
Court records obtained by WANE’s sister station WISH show Patrolman Cory Owensby was arrested Thursday morning on five felony counts of official misconduct. He also face five misdemeanor counts of criminal conversion and three misdemeanor counts of false informing, according to court records.
Owensby has been an IMPD Officer since 2007 and is the son of Fraternal Order of Police Local 86 President Bill Owensby.
Court records show Owensby appeared before a judge Thursday morning following the arrest and was released on his own recognizance.
Additional charging documents from prosecutors have not yet been released. IMPD public information officers declined to immediately comment on the arrest.
