Restaurants close after inspections

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - After a rash of restaurant closures due to pest issues, a couple have closed their doors for good.  We first told you about the problems at some local restaurants earlier this month.

You might recall back in late December, health inspectors from the Allen County Health Department temporarily shut down Hibachi Grill because they found cockroaches.  Monday night we saw that restaurant’s no longer open on Coldwater Road.  The sign for Hibachi Grill is gone.  There’s no closed sign on the door, but it appears to be closed.  Officials with the Allen County Health Department say they have nothing to do with the closure and problems at the restaurant had been resolved.

Meanwhile, our partners in news at the News Sentinel report The Mandarin on Stellhorn Road is set to close.  It was shut down twice this year for pest issues.  Although The Mandarin was open for business Monday, an employee there told NewsChannel 15 they will be closing in the near future.  She couldn’t go into details and told us we needed to talk to the owner, who was not available and also never returned our calls.

Now, there are also rumors that Red Rok in downtown Fort Wayne may close or change ownership.  That’s not true according to an employee we spoke with Monday.  He told us Red Rok will remain open and they have no plans of changing ownership.
