Two bodies were recovered from an auto repair business in Milford on Thursday, February 14, 2014.

MILFORD, Ind. (WANE)   Officials had presumed a man found dead in a fire at a Milford auto body shop to be Jose Medina and DNA testing has now confirmed this.

The fire at Medina’s Body Repair Shop at 310 N Higbee Street in Milford happened on February 13, 2014. Investigators determined on February 17 that it was caused by an accidental electrical malfunction.

Medina was found on the first floor and Annalu Nunez on the second. Nunez was quickly identified. Medical examiners did determine shortly after the fire that both died of smoke inhalation but did wait for DNA testing to officially confirm Medina’s identity.

DNA testing done at the Indiana State Police lab in Fort Wayne found that the DNA of the man found dead in the fire was a 99.9% match to Medina’s.
