Police swarm home after teen threatens suicide

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police said a 16-year-old boy who threatened to commit suicide barricaded himself in a bedroom for several hours Friday morning.

Fort Wayne Police Department officers were called to a home in the 3500-block of Dicke Road shortly before 8 a.m. Friday. Police said they found the teenager armed with a knife inside a bedroom.

Officers with the Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team spoke to the boy through an open window for several hours before he was taken into custody.

Police said the teen was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for a mental health evaluation.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
