FORT WAYNE, Ind. – In front of 1,433 loud Mastodon fans, the IPFW Mastodons came out victorious over the Akron Zips by a 97-91 final score, the program’s first-ever post-season victory.

IPFW will next face off against VMI on Saturday, March 22 in a 1 p.m. tip-off.

Seven players scored at least nine points for IPFW, led by 23 points from Luis Jacobo, while Steve Forbes scored 17, Mo Evans 15, and Pierre Bland 10. Isaiah McCray and Joe Edwards each fell a point shy of double figures with nine. Forbes pulled down a game-high seven rebounds, while Bland dished out seven assists.

IPFW hit 60 percent of its shots (33-of-55) for the game, and 54.5% (12-of-22) from long range. Akron was 36-of-56 from the floor (64.3%), but hit just 5-of-17 from long ragne (29.4%).
