POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. –The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2013-14 Division II Men’s Basketball All-America teams. Joe Mitchell of Friends (Kan.) was named the NABC-NAIA Division II National Player of the Year. The All-America Teams are selected by the NAIA All-America committee.

Mitchell (pictured top left), a 6-foot-1 senior guard, led all players at the NAIA Division II level averaging 32.3 points per game. The senior shot 58 percent from the field and better than 40 percent from beyond the arc, making 60 3-pointers this season. Mitchell also dished out 161 assists and pulled down 5.2 rebounds per game in leading Friends to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title. Mitchell and the Falcons earned their first ever win at the NAIA Division II National Championship, upsetting No. 13-seed Northwood (Fla.) in the first round. The Falcons followed with a win over No. 4 Cornerstone (Mich.) before losing to eventual national champion No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan. They finished the year with a 27-7 record.

Of the 10 players selected on the first team, six earned All-America honors in some capacity last year.
