GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — Two people were injured when a small airplane went down Tuesday morning near the Greenwood Municipal Airport, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police officials confirm.

The incident was near County Line and Combs roads in a field, which is just east of the airport in Greenwood. The plane is a fixed wing single-engine Cessna.

Officials at the scene said the plane is leased by a school. An instructor and student were in the plane when it crashed. The pilot said they appeared to have engine problems and lost power.

The instructor’s head had a cut and the student complained of head and neck injuries. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
