FORT WAYNE, IN (March 16, 2014) –The Fort Wayne Mad Ants presented by Lutheran Health Network completed a weekend sweep against the Delaware 87ers with a 128-111 victory this evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne. Tony Mitchell led the Mad Ants in scoring with 26 points, shooting five of nine from behind the arc. Sadiel Rojas also had a monster game with 24 points and 15 rebounds.
The Mad Ants got off to a hot start and jumped out to a 20-4 lead just three minutes into the game. Fort Wayne outscored Delaware 37-23 in the first quarter thanks to the play of Rojas who had 19 points in the period. The Mad Ants dominated the second quarter as well and took a 74-43 lead going into halftime. The Sevens responded in the second half and outscored the Mad Ants 35-24 in the third quarter and 33-30 in the fourth but their efforts were not enough to overcome their first half deficit.
The Sevens were led by Tiny Gallon’s 34 points and Josh Akognon’s 29 points.
Ron Howard scored 15 points, Trey McKinney-Jones had 13 points and Matt Bouldin and Jamaal Franklin each had 12 points apiece. The Mad Ants are back in action on Tuesday evening at the Memorial Coliseum against the L.A. D-Fenders at 7:00pm.
