Four arrested in meth, pot bust

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -  Police arrested four people on drug-related charges Friday night after serving a warrant at a Fremont home.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, police served a search warrant at home in the 6300 E block of SR 120 shortly before midnight. During the search, officers found an active meth lab and several items used to make meth, along with pot and meth, inside the home.

Police arrested the following people:

  • Ashley J Hanchar, 34, of Fremont, faces a manufacturing methamphetamine charge,  possession of methamphetamine charge, possession of two or more precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine charge, and a possession of paraphernalia charge. Hanchar is being held on a $62,500 bond pending her initial hearing on Monday.
  • Cory J Salinas, 31, of Angola was arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine charge,  possession of methamphetamine charge, possession of two or more precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine charge, and possession of paraphernalia charge. Salinas is being held on a $62,500 bond pending his initial hearing on Monday.
  • Sheryl A Rakestraw, 52, of Fremont, faces a maintaining a common nuisance charge, possession of methamphetamine charge, and possession of paraphernalia charge. Rakestraw is being held on a $12,500 bond pending her initial hearing on Monday.
  • Samuel R Guthrie, 58, of Fremont,faces a maintaining a common nuisance charge, possession of methamphetamine charge, and possession of paraphernalia charge. Guthrie is being held on a $12,500 bond pending his initial hearing on Monday.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Team, Indiana State Police, Fremont Police Department, Indiana Conservation Officer, Michigan State Police, Fremont Fire, and the Steuben County Health Department.
