IPFW To Host Wednesday Night Game In C.I.T.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The record-breaking season for the IPFW men’s basketball team will continue, as the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament has not only selected the Mastodons to be a part of the tournament, but as a first-round host.

The Mastodons will host a game on Wednesday, March 19 against an opponent yet to be determined. The official match-ups for the tournament (which is not a traditional bracketed format) will be released on Sunday evening following the release of the NCAA and NIT brackets. If chosen, IPFW will step away from the CIT Tournament into the NIT.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase not only the men’s basketball program, but the entire athletic department,” said athletic director Kelley Hartley Hutton. “We are also thankful to have the opportunity for our student-athletes to play in front of our home crowd again this season.”

The Mastodons fell in a 60-57 thriller on ESPN2 in the Summit League Tournament Championship Game. The team set a new program best with 24 wins on the season, and this postseason berth is the first as a member of NCAA Division I for the men’s basketball program.
