FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – FBI special agents said they found more than 1,800 child pornography images on a Fort Wayne man’s computer following a year-and-a-half-long investigation into a photo sharing website.

The man told officials he does not promote pornography, he just likes to look at the pictures, which he claimed he didn’t consider sexual.

According to an affidavit for probable cause, Charles W. Berry, 57, had two user accounts on an unnamed website that the Major Case Coordination unit of the FBI had been investigating since September of 2012. FBI special agents said Berry commented on other user’s albums of young girls and suggest they start trading images of the girls through emails.

Officials said the free website is used by people who exchange and trade child porn images. The website is hosted outside of the United States and has unlimited hosting storage and free photo sharing of all digital images, according to the FBI. The FBI obtained a copy of the website’s usernames, album names, passwords, user comments, and associated email addresses and IP logs.

On August 21, 2013, a federal search warrant was issued for Berry’s Fort Wayne home. More than 1,800 images of child porn, including prepubescence children showing vaginal and groin areas, penile penetration to a child’s vagina, images of oral sex involving children,  and images of prepubescent nude modeling were found on Berry’s laptop hard drive and electronic storage device.

Berry told an FBI special agent in a voluntary interview that he saved the pictures from the internet on his computer and that he may have traded a few pictures. He also admitted to having pictures of underage girls on his computer but said he does not promote pornography, he just likes to look at the pictures.

Berry said he didn’t find the pictures sexual and that most of his pictures were “model pictures.” He told the special agent that some of his pictures were child pornography pictures that he just hadn’t deleted yet.

According to court documents, Berry faces two felony charges for possession of child pornography.

As of Friday afternoon, Berry was not listed in the Allen County Jail.
