FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)   A scoutmaster told police his troop’s funds went missing as did the person who managed the account.

The Scoutmaster of Scout Troop 27, at Bethany United Methodist Church, called police on January 24 from his day job to file a report on the funds he said had gone missing.

The scoutmaster told police the troop’s secretary had been confronted about the missing funds three days before, and that she had since been reported missing by her family.

The copy of the police report NewsChannel 15 received had the amount reported stolen redacted.

The scoutmaster told police he didn’t know if the money was transferred out of the troop’s account or if it had never been deposited.

“No one kept on eye on things as they trusted [the secretary] and let her have a free hand with the finances,” the police report states.

According to the January police report, the scoutmaster told police some debts had not been paid. He said the secretary had been told about this several times and said “she kept lying and evading the truth.”

NewsChannel 15 is looking into what, if anything, has happened since the police report was filed in January.
