Woodlan Edges Canterbury In Boys Sectional Title Game

BERNE, Ind. (WANE) – The wait was worth it for Woodlan boys basketball fans, who saw the Warriors clinch their first sectional title since 1997 on Monday night with a 71-67 win over Canterbury.

With the Canterbury girls playing in the 2A state championship game on Saturday the boys sectional title game at South Adams high school was postponed until Monday night.

Greg White led a balanced Woodlan offense with 18 points. Kadin Gerig added 17 points, Jaylin Bennett 15, and Jeffery Jones 12 for the Warriors.

Andrew Kus led Canterbury with 20 points Trevor Uhl tallied 18.

Woodlan now faces Winamac (14-8) in the regional semifinals Saturday at 11 a.m. at North Judson high school.
