SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WANE) – IPFW is just one win away from the NCAA tournament as the Mastodons topped South Dakota State 64-60 on Monday night in Summit League semifinal action.
The second-seeded Dons now face top seed North Dakota State on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. The winner will receive the Summit League’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
IPFW led South Dakota State 30-24 at the half on the strength of Mo Evans’ outside shooting. The Summit League Sixth Man of the Year, Evans connected on five-of-five three pointers in the first half. Evans ended the game with a team-high 18 points. Pierre Bland tallied 12 points, five assists and three steals. Steve Forbes racked up 10 points and eight rebounds while Joe Reed added nine points and six boards.
IPFW improves to 24-9 on the season.
The Dons and Bison (24-6) have played twice this season, splitting the conference series. IPFW beat the Bison 82-71 at the Gates Center on January 9 to open conference play while losing to NDSU 69-58 on the road on February 8.
