FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  – Mexican restaurant Carlos O’Kelly’s closed both of its locations Monday after more than 20 years in Fort Wayne, according to the restaurant’s director of marketing.

Dave Phillips, Director of Marketing at Carlos O’Kelly’s, told NewsChannel 15 the leases for the two locations were up and there was not enough profit coming in to keep the restaurants open.

Carlos O’Kelly’s was located in the Village of Coventry at 5735 Falls Drive and at 549 N. Coliseum Boulevard, near the intersection of Coliseum and Coldwater.

Phillips said employees were told on Monday that the restaurants are closed for good.

The employees who have worked for Carlos O’ Kelly’s for at least one year were given some sort of severance. Restaurant mangers said they are working with other restaurants to help their former employees find new jobs.

Carlos O’Kelly’s has been in Fort Wayne for more than 20 years.
