FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – The return trip to the state finals was twice as nice for Bishop Dwenger. Two years after the Saints lost in the 2A state championship, they returned and emerged with the hardware after a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Evansville on Saturday afternoon. Senior Justin Richardson provided the heroics, scoring a powerplay goal three minutes and ten seconds into sudden death overtime off a feed from Spencer Gillig.
Richardson also provided the Saints other goal, scoring at the 12:38 mark of the second period.
Aaron Rawlins scored the lone goal for Evansville.

Earlier in the day, the Summit City Panthers fell in double overtime to Carmel Blue in the 1A state championship. Nikolas Moehring and Garrett Shanebrook handled the scoring for the Panthers.
