FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Glee actress Lauren Potter is visiting Fort Wayne this weekend for the Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana‘s Spread the Word the End the Word campaign, which makes a stand against using the word “retarded.”

Potter, who plays Becky Johnson on the popular TV show and has Down syndrome herself, will be the keynote speaker at the Abilities Abound: A GLEEful Celebration with Actress and Advocate Lauren Potter event on Saturday at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Fort Wayne.

The Northeast Indiana Disability Action Coalition (NEIDAC) held an essay contest in schools in northeast Indiana with the topic of “My experience with the R-Word.”  Three winners will be honored and awarded an i-Pad mini at the event on Saturday.
