Warsaw’s Grose Signs With Indiana Tech

WARSAW, Ind. – Senior standout Nikki Grose has been a fixture in the Warsaw girls basketball lineup the last three seasons, helping the Lady Tigers to 50 wins and a trip to the Final Four in that span, and the standout post star signed a letter of intent to play at Indiana Tech for the next four years.

The two-time All-Northern Lakes Conference player, Grose was a primary player down the stretch in 2013 as the Lady Tigers reached the Final Four, as she dominated the inside defensively, on the glass, and in scoring in key tournament wins in the sectional and regional play.  This year, not only did Grose serve as one of the leaders in points, assists, steals, and blocked shots nearly every outing, Grose solidified herself as one of the best shot blockers in school history as she surpassed the previous mark of 44 set by Claudia Kreicker in 1978.

A 2-time Times Union All Area team member and 3-time Varsity Letter winner for Lady Tiger Basketball, Grose was named to the Indiana Junior All-Stars team in 2013 and was recognized as a member of the Indiana Top 60 this season.  Grose was also a key contributor for the 2012 Tiger golf squad that qualified for the state finals.

While making tremendous strides on the courts, Grose has made an impact on Warsaw Community High School during the day as well, having worked closely the past two school years with the Peer Tutoring program, a crew of students enrolled in a course working with and serving as role models and assistants for the moderate and severely handicapped students at WCHS.

Grose will study special education at Indiana Tech and play basketball for coach Jessica Biggs and the Warriors.  Indiana Tech is a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Association and competes in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.
