3/7 Friday Night Highlight Zone

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – 4A no. 4 North Side rolled to the sectional title game in Kendallville as the Redskins bested East Noble 85-44 on sectional semifinal night.

The Redskins were led by Jeremy Jones with a game-high 17 points as one of four players in double figures.

In the late game at East Noble it was Carroll topping Northrop 55-34 to advance to Saturday’s championship game. The Chargers were led by Chandler White with 14 points and Jeremy Kalonji with ten. The Chargers and Redskins will play at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday for the sectional title.

In 4A play at Huntington North South Side’s Nate Thomas tallied 23 points to lead the Archers over Jay County 63-61. Meanwhile, Homestead outscored Wayne 18-6 in the fourth quarter as the Spartans pulled away for a 68-56 victory. Caleb Swanigan led the Spartans with 24 points and 12 rebounds while Tahj Curry had 14 points. Cameron Leshore paced Wayne with 20 points while Justin Mitchell added 17. Homestead and South Side will play for the sectional title Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

In 3A play at New Haven reigning state runner-up Concordia cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter but couldn’t get over the hump as the host Bulldogs topped the Cadets 65-48. Jordan Hogue led New Haven with 21 points while Lowell Griggs added 18. IUPUI signee D.J. McCall scored 15 points in his last game at Concordia.

In the nightcap at New Haven it was Bishop Dwenger jumping out to a 15-2 lead en route to a 62-47 win over Leo. Grady Eifert led the Saints with 17 points while Kyle Hartman added 14. Leo was led by David Hardin with 18 points. The Saints play New Haven at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the sectional title game.

Down in Ossian 3A no. 14 Norwell took care of Eastbrook 66-55 to advance to the sectional title game. The Knights will face Mississinewa in the championship game, as the Indians edged Columbia City 41-40.

At Wawasee high school West Noble disposed of Fairfield 70-46 in the early game on Friday while NorthWood outlasted Tippecanoe Valley 59-55 in the late. The Panthers and Chargers will play at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow for the sectional title.

In 2A play at South Adams high school it was 2A no. 13 Woodlan slipping by Churubusco 62-59. It was followed by a 53-48 win by Canterbury over Adams Central. With Canterbury winning the sectional title game will take place on Monday at 7 p.m. instead of Saturday since the Canterbury girls are playing in the 2A state title game in Terre Haute on Saturday.

At Westview the early game had Bremen topping Fremont 45-40 while the late game saw Westview top LaVille 57-51. The Lions and Warriors will play for the sectional title at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

In 2A play at Manchester high school Oak Hill topped Northfield 66-46 while the Squires fell in the Jungle to Cass 69-57.

In 1A play at Hamilton it was Lakewood Park beating the host Marines 64-43 while 1A no. 11 Blackhawk edged 1A no. 4 Elkhart Central in double overtime by a score of 66-63. The Panthers and Braves will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the sectional title game.

At Monroe Central it was the host Golden Bears beating Wes-Del 51-37 while Southern Wells fell in the late game to Liberty Christian 80-32.
