Canterbury Preps For Different But Familiar Challenge

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – After winning five of the last six Class A state championships the Cavaliers have a new challenge that culminates on Saturday – winning the 2A state title.

The Cavs (20-4) will face Heritage Christian (26-1) at 12:45 p.m. Saturday in Terre Haute for the title.

Canterbury leads all girls teams in the state of Indiana in scoring, putting up 76.13 points a night while Heritage Christian is fifth overall at 68.93.

The Cavs are in their second year under Hall of Fame coach Wayne Kreiger.

Xavier signee Kindell Fincher – who went over 2,000 career points in sectionals – leads the way for Canterbury at 25.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Junior guard Darby Maggard tallies 20.8 points a night to go with a team-leading 6.0 assists. Center Katherine Smith is also putting up 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds a game.
