ALBION, Ind. (WANE)  A man currently being held in the Noble County jail on drug charges is now facing a felony charge of child solicitation in a case involving a 15-year-old girl.

Jay J. King, 25, of Kendallville used his Facebook account to ask the girl to engage in sexual conduct according to a press release issued by Noble County Prosecutor Steven Clouse on Tuesday morning.

A relative of the girl notified police of a potentially inappropriate relationship involving King in September of 2013.  Investigators believe the Facebook solicitations took place between June 1, 2013 and August 8, 2013.

According to the court documents filed Tuesday, law enforcement officials reviewed cell phone records, as well as Facebook account information during the course of the investigation.

The fifteen year old girl has been interviewed by investigators and it is believed no physical harm was done to her.

“The allegations in this case are a stark reminder of how important it is for parents to monitor their children on the internet and specifically their use of social networking sites. Suspicious activity should be reported promptly to law enforcement, and not deleted until law enforcement has an opportunity to investigate. Our children need to be safe on the streets – and on the internet,” said  Prosecutor Clouse.

King was charged on September 23, 2013 with Residential Entry, a class D felony, and again on January 23, 2014 with Possession of Methamphetamine, class D felony and Possession of Paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor. The charges pending against KING are in no way related to the Child Solicitation
charged filed on Tuesday.
