DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE)  Two women were hurt in a crash in Dekalb County Monday afternoon.

Police said Alyssa Kimmel, 20, was heading north on State Road 427 around 4:20 p.m. when she went off the east side of the road, overcorrected, crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, and hit a car head on. Both Kimmel and the driver of the other car, Christine Workman, 64, were pinned inside their vehicles.

Once fire crews got them out, they were airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Kimmel suffered a broken ankle and had possible internal chest injuries. Workman is in critical condition with internal lacerations, a broken lower leg/ankle, and a laceration to a knee.

Kimmel was wearing her seatbelt but police believe Workman wasn’t.
