FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A home on Beaver Avenue is badly damaged after a fire Sunday night.

Firefighters were called just before 11:30 p.m. to 4223 Beaver Avenue after someone called 911 to report smoke coming from the house.

The first arriving crews found flames coming from the basement and first floor, according to a department statement. Firefighters initially entered the home to battle the fire but found a hole in the floor and backed out. They eventually relocated to a different area to fight the flames. Other crews used ladders to search second floor bedrooms and found no one inside.

Several moving containers were lined up in the driveway of the home. A neighbor told NewsChannel 15 the residents of the home had just started moving in.

Firefighters needed just under an hour to get the fire under control. Fire officials said the home sustained heavy smoke, fire, and water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
