The snowy weekends have hurt some businesses and many winter weekend activities such as ice skating because it has either been too cold to operate or people just don’t want to leave the house.

“[It's been] a trying one for us because of the extreme bitter cold weather and abundance of snow,” said Geoff Paddock, the Executive Director of Headwaters Park. “A little bit of snow and cold weather can bring folks out, but when we have temperatures like we did this winter, it was really too cold for people to skate.”

Paddock said this winter they had around 19,000 people utilize the skating rink. However, that number is down about 5,00o from previous winters.
