Meisner Collects 2nd Shutout As K’s Top IceMen


EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville IceMen were shut out by the Fort Wayne Komets, 1-0 at the Ford Center Sunday.

The lone goal of the game came with 5:29 remaining in regulation, as forward Chris Auger recorded his 24th goal of the season. The game-winning goal was assisted by forward Scott Fleming. Auger earned third star of the game honors.

Goaltending was stout once again on both sides, as only one-of-60 shots found twine. 35 of those shots came from Evansville, who registered just two of those shots in the opening period. The IceMen outshot the Komets 29-10 in the second and third period collectively.

Ben Meisner saved all 35 shots he faced, earning his third shutout of the season. He improves his record to 12-11-2. Meisner was voted the game’s first star.

Mike Clemente took the loss for the IceMen. He saved 24-of-25 shots faced, equalling a .960 save percentage and earning the second star of the game. He declines to 15-11-4 on the season.

Evansville had plenty of looks on the power play, but went 0-for-5 on the night. The Komets only had two chances on the man advantage and was unable to capitalize.

The IceMen fall to 25-19-10 for 60 points on the season. Only three points separate Evansville at tenth from Fort Wayne at seventh in the Eastern Conference.
