MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (AP) — A northern Indiana judge has sentenced a man to 45 years in prison for the 1983 murder of a prison inmate who was doused with gasoline and set ablaze in his cell.

A LaPorte Superior Court judge sentenced 53-year-old Paul Stucker on Thursday. A jury had convicted the Scottsburg man last month in the slaying of 34-year-old Johnny Hodge.

Stucker was being held at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City when the Gary man was killed in October 1983 while serving a life sentence for two slayings.

Stucker has been investigated in an unrelated homicide in southeastern Indiana’s Jennings County. Indiana State Police are urging individuals who might have information in that case to come forward now that Stucker has been imprisoned and is no longer a threat. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
