GARY, Ind. (WANE) – Police said an Indiana woman with a Blood Alcohol Content of .26 percent was injured after she crashed into an overpass bridge abutment early Saturday morning.
According to Indiana State Police, Lauren Kinney, 31 of Portage, was driving on the ramp from I-80 eastbound to northbound Cline Avenue in Gary when she ran her car off the road. The car then went through a grassy field and hit the overpass bridge.
Kinney was trapped in her car and had to be extricated by firefighters. She was taken to North Lake Methodist Hospital with facial injuries.
Police said Kinney had a BAC of .26, more than three times the legal limit.
Kinney was charged with Operating While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction, a class D felony.
