FORT WAYNE, Ind. - IPFW guard Amanda Hyde has been named The Summit League’s Co-Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness Summit League Player of the Week for her performance Feb. 17-23. Hyde shared The Summit League award with Ashley Luke from Western Illinois.
It is the fourth time in her career that Hyde has earned the honor by College Sports Madness, who identifies the players who have made the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis each Monday.
Hyde earns her sixth career Summit League Player of the Week award and fourth this season, becoming just the 10th player in league history to amass at least four Player of the Week awards in a single season, after scoring 36 points in the win over second place IUPUI Saturday. The senior guard was 9-of-14 (64 percent) from the field and 18-of-20 (90 percent) at the free throw line. Her 18 made free throws tied her career-high and her own Summit League record. She also grabbed three rebounds, dished out three assists with two steals and one blocked shot. Hyde’s 36 points were the most scored on IUPUI by a player this season while Fort Wayne’s 78 points were also the most allowed by the Jaguars on the year.
