FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Asakusa has been approved to re-open after the Fort Wayne-Allen County Health Department ordered the restaurant to close on Monday due to health code violations.

A notice on the door of Asakusa, 6224 Lima Road, said Monday night the restaurant was closed due to cockroaches.

Health department officials were not available for comment Monday night.

NewsChannel 15 spoke to the Health Department earlier in February about the increase in complaints. Since Jan. 1, the Health Department has closed at least ten restaurants in the county for health code violations mainly due to pest problems.

A separate sign on the door of Asakusa apologized for the inconvenience and directed customers to the company’s other location on Jefferson Boulevard.

It’s unclear if Asakusa had other health code violations.
