FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A passing motorist called 911 after seeing smoke coming from a business on W. Jefferson Boulevard Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.

Stacey Fleming, spokeswoman for the Fort Wayne Fire Department, said fire crews were called out to Lux Cleaners, located at 5618 W. Jefferson Boulevard next to Tuffy Auto Service Center, at 1:36 p.m. Saturday.

Fleming said three people were inside when the building caught fire, but nobody was injured.

The fire started in the attic. Fleming said the building had “extensive damage” following the fire.

Fire crews were able to get the fire out in about 30 minutes, according to Fleming.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Westbound lanes on W. Jefferson were restricted for a couple of hours while crews battled the fire and cleaned up the scene.
