USF’s Kohne Beats Buzzer To Chop Down Foresters

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Saint Francis standout Scott Kohne buried a dramatic three at the buzzer as USF edged rival Huntington University 62-60 on senior night at the Huztell Center.

Kohne and the Cougars were down 60-59 with 1.7 seconds left after at USF timeout. Austin Fox inbounded the ball to Kohne on the wing with Kohne’s back to the basket. Kohne turned and elevated, shooting just over the outstretched arm of defender T.J. Short. The buzzer sounded with the ball in the air, and Kohne’s swish sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Huntington had taken the lead with 4 seconds left when Daniel Woll rattled home a 17-foot jumper to make it 60-59.

A Bishop Dwenger grad, Kohne tallied 11 points and six rebounds for the game. USF was led by Kegan Comer and Josh Hogan with 18 points apiece.

Huntington was paced by Carroll high school graduate Shane Merryman wiht 25 points.

USF improves to 20-9 overall and 12-5 in Crossroads League play while Huntington drops to 23-6 overall and 12-5 in the league.
