FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Art Van Furniture is back open after Friday night’s fire closed it for a short time.

Firefighters responded to the report of smoke inside the newly opened furniture store in the Glenbrook Plaza on Coliseum Boulevard around 9:00 Friday night.

Once firefighters got inside, they did find flames and were able to put them out. Assistant Fire Chief Mark Nelson told NewsChannel 15 on Friday investigators weren’t sure of the cause, but were focusing on the sign on the front of the building.

Art Van and the adjacent Dick’s Sporting Goods were evacuated during the fire and traffic into the shopping center was blocked off.

The furniture opened its doors to customers again on Monday. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
