Fire damages home on Fort Wayne’s northeast side

Investigators are trying to figure out how a fire started at a home on Fort Wayne’s northeast side Friday afternoon, damaging the first floor and attic.

Crews responded to the house in the 6500 block of Mapledowns Drive at 2:37 p.m. They had the fire under control at 3:01 p.m.

Investigators said the fire started in the attic, leaving behind heavy fire damage and moderate smoke and water damage.

One person was home at the time, but no one was hurt.
