FORT WAYNE, IN. –The Fort Wayne Mad Ants defeated the Bakersfield Jam Wednesday evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 118-103. Tony Mitchell #18 led the Mad Ants with 25 points and James Nunally had a monster game for the Jam with 43 points.
The Mad Ants outscored the Jam 33-25 in the first quarter. Ron Howard, Peyton Siva and Tony Mitchell #18 each had eight points in the first period of play. Nunally led the Jam in the first quarter with 11 points.
The Mad Ants pulled away in the second quarter on a run led by Tony Mitchell #18 and extended the lead to 47-31 four minutes into the quarter. Spurred by Nunally, Bakersfield answered with a run of their own and were able to close out the half on a buzzer beating three-pointer to cut their defecit to just two points, 60-62.
Fort Wayne was led by Pacers’ assignee Orlando Johnson in the third quarter and were able to head into the final period of play with a 12-point lead, 94-82. The fourth quarter was close, with the Mad Ants outscoring the Jam, 24-21 in the period.
Bakersfield had six players in double digits and were led by James Nunally’s 43 points. Ike Diogu had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Jam.
Tony Mitchell led the Ants with 25, with Orlando Johnson following closely behind with 23 and Ron Howard chipping in 20 points. Detroit Pistons’ assignee, Peyton Siva had 16 points and seven assists on the night.
