Two men arrested in fatal motel shooting


INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis police said a man who was shot at a motel Saturday afternoon has died from his injuries. Police arrested two men in relation to the shooting.

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Dustin Woods of Terre Haute. IMPD detectives believe Woods had arrangements to meet Eric Johnson and Alejandro Mauricio in Indianapolis to buy and sell drugs. During the meeting, police believe Woods and another person inside the motel were robbed. Police said Woods confronted Johnson and Mauricio outside of the motel room.

Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots. Police said Woods was shot in the head. He was transported to an Indianapolis hospital where he later died.

Police also said they seized a large amount of drugs from the motel.

Johnson was arrested a short time after the shooting.

Mauricio barricaded himself inside of an Indianapolis home late Saturday night. A SWAT team was called to persuade Mauricio to surrender. After several hours, officers entered the home and Mauricio was taken into custody.
