Basketball players raise money for sick children

14th annual Kids Helping Kids Basketball Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – More than 1,500 basketball players from around the region played in the 14th annual Kids Helping Kids Basketball Tournament this weekend.

The event raises money for the Mad Anthony’s Children’s Hope House. The director of the house says the event is unique because of who does the fundraising.

“A lot of the kids do their own fundraising, and they contribute that to the Mad Anthony’s Children’s Hope House. We utilize those funds to take care of about 411 families each year for about 1,600 overnight stays,” Andrew Gritzmaker said.

Gritzmaker said the event is expected to raise more than $50,000 this year.
