FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Komets were victimized by a late collapse at home once again on Friday night. The K’s coughed up a 2-1 lead in the third period, ultimately falling to Kalamazoo 3-2 in overtime.
Fort Wayne jumped out early with a Jordan Southorn goal 13 minutes into the first period. The Wings answered with an equalizer early in the second, before Southorn’s second goal put the K’s in front again heading to the final period.
With just eight seconds to play in regulation Kalamazoo’s Nick Sirota beat Andrey Makarov to force overtime. Just over a minute into the extra period David Pacan lit the lamp for the game-winning goal.
The Komets hit the road for match-up at Cincinnati Saturday night.
