WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – An Indiana man suffered life-threatening injuries after a snowmobile crash Friday afternoon, according to WANE’s sister station, WLFI.

Indiana Conservation Officer Todd Pekny said Devon Lee, 20, of Brookston was driving a snowmobile when he hit a utility pole around 4 p.m. on County Road 200 East, near County Road 1100 South, about two miles southeast of Brookston.

Lee suffered major head injuries and was rushed to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East, where he was listed in critical condition as of Friday night.

Ofc. Pekny said Lee was speeding.

“It appears that after it struck the pole that it came off at about a 45 degree angle from the pole,” said Ofc. Pekny.

A passenger on the snowmobile, Jaren Evans, 18, had minor injuries and refused treatment on the scene.

Investigators said neither man was wearing a helmet. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
