FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police said a man is in serious condition after a robbery led to a shooting inside an apartment Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the Willow Creek Crossing Apartments shortly after midnight.

According to investigators, a man and woman were inside an apartment in the 7200 block of Lakeridge Drive when they heard a knock on the door. When they answered the door, two men outside forced their way into the apartment.

The victims told police the men kept yelling “Give it to us!” and “Where’s it at?!”

The woman told the suspects she was pregnant. She was not injured in the incident.

Police said shots were fired during the altercation and the man was shot in the chest. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Detectives said the two suspects left the area, possibly in a car. There were no clear footprints from the apartment that officers could track to possibly locate the suspects.

The victims said one suspect had a handgun and the other suspect was carrying two guns.

The incident remains under investigation.
