FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The NBA Development League announced today that Mad Ants veteran guard, Ron Howard, has been selected to play in the eight annual NBA D-League All-Star Game on Saturday, February 15, at Sprint Arena inside NBA All-Star Jam Session at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The game will air live on NBA TV at 3 p.m. ET. This is Howard’s third time receiving this honor—he was named to the NBA D-League All-Star team during the 2009-10 season and the 2012-13 season.
Howard is averaging 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game for the Mad Ants in 26 games this season. He is a league leader in free throw percentage, shooting 87.4% from the stripe. He recorded a career high 36 points on January 3rd against the Iowa Energy.
Howard will play on the “Prospects” team with Isaiah Canaan (Rio Grande Valley), Robert Covington (Rio Grande Valley), Troy Daniels (Rio Grande Valley), Ike Diogu (Bakersfield), Devin Ebanks (Texas), Melvin Ely (Texas), Othyus Jeffers (Iowa), Christapher Johnson (Rio Grande Valley), and Jarvis Varnado (Iowa). The team will be led by Rio Grande Valley Vipers head coach Nevada Smith and his staff.
