FORT WAYNE, IN (February 1, 2014) –The Fort Wayne Mad Ants presented by Lutheran Health Network earned a weekend split against the Canton Charge with a 105-95 victory this evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne. Ron Howard bounced back from a rough night against the Charge the night before and led all scorers with 25 points in the win.
The game was tight throughout the first three quarters, but the Mad Ants took control in the fourth. Will Frisby came in and owned the middle for the Mad Ants by scoring 11 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in the final period. He scored a quick seven points in the first two minutes of the quarter to help give the Ants their largest lead of the game at 87-79. Canton would fight back to drop the lead down to five on a Robert Hite three pointer, but the Ants responded with a 8-0 run sparked by two Frisby lay-ins and two Howard jumpers to put the game away.
The Charge were led by Gilbert Brown’s 17 points and Jorge Gutierrez’s 15 points. Kevin Jones and Robert Hite also scored in double figures with 14.
Besides Howard’s 25, Peyton Siva scored 18, Trey McKinney-Jones had 17, Tony Mitchell chipped in 12, and Will Frisby scored 11.
