Woman arrested for burglarizing her Grandma’s home

WARSAW, Ind. (WANE)  Warsaw police arrested an 18-year-0ld woman and her 21-year-old boyfriend on Thursday after they allegedly broke into a home with the intention of stealing the grandmother’s prescription drugs.

According to the Warsaw Police Department, on Wednesday a homeowner filed a burglary report after finding the residence had been broken into and ransacked.  The homeowner also found several things missing, including a handgun.

Clues led investigators to the homeowner’s granddaughter and her boyfriend.  They determined that the pair had used a a hidden key to get inside in order to steal the woman’s prescription medications.  However, once inside they took checkbooks, cash, gift cards, purses, a mini-fridge and a Smith and Wesson handgun.

On Thursday detectives interviewed Alexis Henry, 18, of Warsaw and charged her with a felony count of burglary and a felony count of theft.

They also contacted Henry’s boyrfriend, Ritchie Hernandez Jr., 21, of Warsaw and were able to recover all the stolen items including the handgun of which he had filed off the serial numbers.

He’s facing felony counts of burglary, theft and possession of an altered handgun.
