IPFW’s Forbes Leads Nation In Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – When it comes to shooting the basketball IPFW’s Steve Forbes is as close to a sure thing as you can get in college basketball this season.

The junior from Florida currently leads all of Division One basketball in field goal shooting by connecting on a whopping 67.1 percent of his shots from the floor. Forbes has a 0.4 percent lead on Kansas star Joel Embiid, who is hitting 66.7 percent for the Jayhawks. Embiid could very well be the no. 1 player taken in the NBA Draft this summer.

Forbes in an imposing force in the post at 6-foot-9 and 295 pounds. The IPFW center is putting up 11.9 points a game, second on the team behind Luis Jacobo’s 15.1 points per game average.

The Dons are 16-6 overall and tied for first in Summit League play with a 4-1 conference record.

IPFW host Omaha at 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
