FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A 20-year-old woman was arrested at a Fort Wayne hotel Saturday on a murder charge. Police said Alisha M. Walker, of Akron, Ohio, stabbed a Chicago suburb teacher to death after meeting him online.
According to the Orland Park Police Department, Alan Filan, 61, of Orland Park, was found dead in his home on Tuesday morning after he didn’t show up to work. Police said Filan lived alone in the home.
Walker told police she went to Filan’s home on January 18 after he contacted her through a website called Backpage. The website is a classified advertising website, similar to Craigslist. Police said Filan and Walker began arguing over money and then got into a fight before Walker allegedly stabbed Filan.
Walker then fled from the scene in her car, according to police.
Police found Walker at a hotel in Fort Wayne early Saturday morning. She was arrested by Orland Park Police Department, South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and Fort Wayne Police Department officers.
According to the Orland Police Department, Walker has been arrested in the past for drugs, prostitution, and battery.
Police also determined that Filan and Walker had met up on at least two other occasions before the stabbing.
As of Sunday afternoon, Walker was listed in the Allen County Jail. Officials said Walker is awaiting extradition.
